The Whitters Family Home
CMHFH first identified this property back in September 2009 and quickly worked to gain ownership as this home was in good structural condition but required considerable rehabilitation. This home was acquired in partnership with the local Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) and the use of CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) to serve the Whitters family.
The home, built in 1974, was vacant for nearly two years. CMHFH updated the interior and exterior of the home while also addressing the home's energy efficiency on various aspects of the rehab. Work was completed in mid May 2010.
The Saint Cloud Area Association of Realtors partnered with CMHFH to get the Whitters Family into this home in time to earn the first-time homeowner tax credit. It is our hope that the Saint Cloud Area Association of Realtors sponsorship will inspire others to consider similar sponsorships. While we have the funds to acquire foreclosed properties, we still need partners in gaining the resources to renovate and rebuild each property.
