The Whitters Family Home

CMHFH first identified this property back in September 2009 and quickly worked to gain ownership as this home was in good structural condition but required considerable rehabilitation. This home was acquired in partnership with the local Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) and the use of CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) to serve the Whitters family.

The home, built in 1974, was vacant for nearly two years. CMHFH will update the interior and exterior of the home while also addressing the home's energy efficiency on various aspects of the rehab. Work will be completed in mid May 2010 and the family is scheduled to sign a mortgage shortly there after.Great neighbor hood-proximity to various services, schools, churches, and other resources is also a wonderful benefit. 

The Saint Cloud Area Association of Realtors is undertaking a major partnership with CMHFH to get the Whitters Family into this home in time to earn the first-time homeowner tax credit. We at CMHFH are incredibly excited by this partnership. We‘re not surprised--who better than our area Realtors understand the value of home ownership and stabilized neighborhoods? What is impressive and inspiring is how deeply committed they are to serving a family in need while many of their own members and families struggle under the weight of tough economic times.

It is our hope that the Saint Cloud Area Association of Realtors sponsorship will inspire others to consider similar sponsorships. While we have the funds to acquire foreclosed properties, we still need partners in gaining the resources to renovate and rebuild each property.
