Abigail Namasté’s Story

Abigail and Bea moved to St. Cloud from Prior Lake three years ago and most of their family still lives in Northern Minnesota. They have moved here to pursue additional education opportunities and over the years have developed a lot of friendships here and have decided to remain in the St. Cloud area. Rocco is the furry family companion, weighing in at an outstanding 130 pounds and is also the tackle champion of the household!

Abigail works at a Senior Assisted Living Center in central Minnesota as the Life Enrichment Coordinator part time. She also is going to school to pursue her acupressure therapy degrees through a local school in St. Cloud. Abigail looks forward to having a garden of her own and a yard to play with her loved ones.

Bea attends school locally and just started the ninth grade. She enjoys brain teasers, writing short stories, sports such as soccer, basketball and tennis and listening to classical music.  Bea also volunteers at the Humane Society working with the shelter animals, and helps match people with pets along with many other tasks. Bea would like to be scientist who invents greener products to reduce waste and improve the environment. When Bea gets her new room in her future home she's going to use her own artistic ability to paint it a stunning yellow and decorate it with abstract giraffes.

Together as a family, they enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities, cooking, going to the beach/park in the summer months and going up North to visit Grandma.

Abigail and Bea where selected from the spring of 2009. She and her family have a friend who is a current Habitat homeowner and encouraged Abigail to apply even though she didn't think she'd qualify. Abigail attended an informational meeting because it was apparent that she wouldn't qualify for a traditional mortgage and they currently live in a one bedroom apartment with multiple inefficiencies in central Minnesota.  The family is eagerly awaiting Homeowner education classes to start so that they can be offered a potential home site after completion of the classes.
