Angela Hansen’s Story

Angie lives in a two bedroom apartment in Sartell with her six year old twins, Jaida and Tyler. This, however, presents a problem. The twins are fraternal and have to share the same bedroom and Angie has one prosthetic leg which makes mobility difficult. After spending all day on her feet working at a dialysis center, it really takes a toll on her body. But she has no choice but to stay there because that's all that she can afford. Until she heard about Habitat from a great uncle of hers that volunteers and donates with an affiliate in Florida; she applied in spring of 2008.

"We'll feel like we really have a place to call home," said Angie when she received her congratulations letter, "My children will be ecstatic to have their own rooms, to form their own personalities and grow with all that God intends for them."

Angie is currently working on her sweat equity hours by working with Catholic Charities with their Toys for Tots campaign, working with Habitat on various projects and attending her homeowner education classes. She is enjoying her time volunteering and hopes to continue to do so after her home closing.  We asked her what she thought of our volunteers and she said, "In general, I feel like they have really good hearts and feel like they're not judging me. They're always willing to see the good in others and I sincerely appreciate that." We are excited that Angie decided to partner with us and wish her nothing but a bright future in her new home.
