"It's about giving back to the community. We're involved in housing so this was the prefect avenue to take," said Russ and Dona. Coldwell Banker Burnet sent out two groups on the 14th street north build site in St. Cloud. Russ was excited when he got the call from the CMHFH Volunteer Coordinator asking if his realty office would like to volunteer on the house that the St. Cloud Area Association of Realtors is sponsoring. "I just reserved a day and asked who wanted to come out," he said, "and before I knew it, the day was filled." They all were in high spirits even though it looked like it was going to rain on them, Todd even joked about pretending to work and lifted a wheelbarrow when CMHFH office staff showed up at the site.

The ideology of lending a hand was strong amongst them. LuAnn and Sandy, who worked on screening the landscaping rocks in the morning, both said that volunteering is important, "A lot of houses need help. It's good to help out." As realtors, Coldwell Banker Burnet knows first hand how the economy affected the housing industry. "There are a lot of people that need it," said LuAnn when discussing with Jake, Roger and Sandy on how Habitat works to fight poverty housing. All of them were fascinated by how the selection of families work and how Habitat serves members of the community that need a hand up into better housing.
We are thankful that Coldwell Banker Burnet donated a day of their time to help us on a home. We hope that they enjoyed themselves working on the landscaping of the future home of the Whitters and that they come back to help us fight poverty housing!
