Building Homes - Habitat traditionally has built homes from the ground up. That means all stages of construction from foundation work and framing all the way to painting. Currently, because of economic conditions, a new opportunity has presented itself through rehabilitations and foreclosures. This allows us to put families into safe homes in a shorter amount of time while reinvigorating neighborhoods.
Partnering with Families - Habitat homes are not given away. Partner families not only pay an affordable, zero-interest rate mortgage for their home, but put in 200 hours of labor (sweat equity) on their own home or other affiliate projects.
Partnering with the Community - Our volunteers make up for the cost of labor so the homes become affordable for our partner families. Very few tasks are hired out to trade professionals, so we are very appreciative of our volunteers. Other ways that we partner with the community are through advocacy, people spreading the mission of Habitat, volunteers in the office or on committees, and individual or group fundraising.
Funding - CMHFH relies on the donations and grants of businesses, faith groups, organizations, government programs and individuals of either monetary amounts (cash) or in-kind donations (services and products) to support our mission.
Tithe - We not only build locally, but internationally as well! Part of the funds that we raise here are donated to the Tithe program which helps build homes in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Paraguay.
