Youth Opportunities

In recognition of Federal Labor Laws, no one age 13 and under is allowed on a construction site.  Youth ages 14-15 are not allowed on a construction site while construction is taking place.  They can do activities such as clean up, landscaping or painting as long as no other construction is taking place.

Youth ages 16-17 are allowed on the site while other construction is going on.  However, they are not allowed to perform any hazardous activities (this includes power tools, motorized vehicles, demolition, roofing, excavation, or working at heights of six feet or more). We therefore limit youth ages 16-17 to doing clean up, landscaping, and painting.  All youth require supervision at a 2 to 1 ratio

To read more about it check out the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry's website

A simple and great way to get youth involved is through fundraising and advocating. Poverty housing is a problem in our own community and we need people of all ages to stand up for this issue!

If you have any more questions please contact our Volunteer Manager at (320) 656-8890.
